The Nurse is responsible for providing direct nursing care to residents, assisting in the delivery of healthcare services, and supervising day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants, as appropriate to licensure and scope of practice. Responsibilities are carried out under the direction of the Director of Nursing and in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations to ensure the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesUtilizes the nursing process to ensure assessments are performed in a timely manner and are appropriate for the resident’s condition. Develops and updates care plans that address all resident conditions and concerns. Interventions are timely and appropriate, with reassessment and re-intervention occurring per policy and as indicated by the resident’s condition.Recognizes emergencies promptly and responds appropriately.Administers medications accurately and within designated timeframes.Performs treatments and procedures skillfully and on time.Educates residents and families by assessing readiness to learn and barriers to learning. Delivers information at a level appropriate for the individual.
