The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for utilizing the nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation, and evaluation—to provide individualized nursing care to residents. The RN collaborates with residents, families, and interdisciplinary colleagues, including providers, to plan, implement, and evaluate care. The RN demonstrates competency and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise, uses appropriate age and population‑specific standards, and provides care in all phases of preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, and treatment. The RN coordinates care, performs resident assessments, educates residents, and executes various nursing interventions. The RN may serve as charge nurse and delegate appropriate tasks to licensed and unlicensed assistive personnel within their competence and job descriptions, providing guidance to ensure safe, reliable resident care and resolution of care and service concerns.
Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program (eg, CCNE, ACEN, NLN CNEA). Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred. Holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where practice occurs and/or possesses multi‑state licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact state. Holds and maintains required department‑specific competencies and certifications.
