Job summary

Starr Regional Medical Center in Etowah is seeking a Long Term Care Registered Nurse (RN) for per diem/PRN shifts. You will assess patients, develop and implement care plans, and mentor staff in a team-focused environment dedicated to quality care.

Responsibilities include staffing decisions, direct patient care as needed, and coordinating admissions, discharges, and transfers. Active Tennessee RN license required; BLS on hire, PALS within 6 months; BSN preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires an Associate's degree; BSN preferred.
• Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• BLS certification required at hire; PALS within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Performs initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition.
• Establishes a plan of care aligned with problems identified and patient capabilities/desires.
• Supervises and mentors nursing and support staff during assigned shift.
• Assists in determining staffing levels and assignments based on census, acuity, and staff availability.
• Provides direct patient care as needed.
• Floats between staff to assist with problem-solving.
• Takes patient assignments to meet staffing needs.
• Evaluates effectiveness of patient care and identifies issues affecting outcomes.
• Responds to complaints about patient care and manages through established channels.
• Performs role-specific duties such as admissions/discharges and coordinating transfers.
• Ensures staff has necessary equipment and supplies for safe care.
