Job summary

Harris Regional Hospital in Sylva, NC is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for Labor & Delivery on a PRN basis with 12-hour shifts. Shifts may include nights, days, weekends, and holidays. The unit handles about 50+ deliveries monthly, with a Level 2B nursery and a Mother Baby Unit, offering cross-training across the department.

As an RN, you will perform patient assessments, implement interventions, document care, and contribute to interdisciplinary care planning in a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Active North Carolina RN license required (or compact state).
• Associates degree required; BSN preferred.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days of hire.
• AHA ACLS and PALS required within six months of hire.
• One year of RN experience preferred.
• Ability to think critically, make decisions, and work with minimal supervision in a stressful setting.

Responsibilities

• Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs.
• Initiates appropriate nursing interventions.
• Provides age-appropriate care based on condition.
• Documents medical necessity in the patient’s record.
• Completes and revises Interdisciplinary Care Plans for each patient.
• Performs timely QA assessments.
