Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality obstetric nursing care to labor and delivery patients.
  • Monitor maternal and fetal status, interpret data, and escalate concerns promptly.
  • Administer medications and interventions per protocols and physician orders.
  • Document care and maintain accurate, timely patient records in the EHR.
  • Lead or assist in emergency obstetric situations with rapid decision-making.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to develop and update birth plans.
  • Educate patients and families about labor, delivery, and postnatal care.
  • Maintain safety and infection control standards in line with hospital policies.
  • Analyze unit metrics and contribute to process improvements to meet targets.
  • Assess and manage pain with safe, evidence-based strategies.
  • Mentor and onboard new staff, supporting professional development goals.
Experience/Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse with state obstetric/gynecology privileges and current licensure.
  • Valid RN license with Labor & Delivery or perinatal specialty certification (e.g., CNL, CNML).
  • Minimum 2–4 years of labor and delivery nursing experience in a high-acuity setting.
  • Proficiency in fetal monitoring interpretation and escalation per protocol.
  • Ability to lead emergency obstetric interventions and rapid decision-making.
  • Strong EHR documentation skills; experience with hospital information systems (e.g., Epic).
  • Infection control compliance and patient safety certification (e.g., ACLS, PALS as applicable).
  • Performance-driven mindset with data-driven approach to meet unit targets and metrics.
  • BSN preferred; ADN considered with acute L&D experience plus demonstrated growth.
  • Ability to mentor, onboard new staff, and contribute to professional development.
