Job summary

The Family Birth Center at St. Francis Medical Center is seeking a Labor & Delivery Nurse to guide patients through labor, focusing on mother and baby safety with compassion. You will participate in recovery and postpartum care, supporting families during joyous arrivals and challenging moments.

Responsibilities include triage, labor support, fetal monitoring, patient education, newborn assessment, and close team communication. Eligible for sign-on and educational assistance up to $10,000.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an RN nursing program.
• Active RN licensure in the state of Nebraska.
• BLS through American Heart Association.
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required within 6 months of hire.

• Support pregnant patients in labor including induction, epidural assistance (if needed), pain management and fetal monitoring.
• Educate patients on interventions, medications, exams, and labor stages.
• Assess newborns and provide care.
• Communicate with care management team including anesthesiologist, physician, patient and family.

Job Summary And Responsibilities

As our Labor & Delivery Nurse at St. Francis Medical Center, you’ll guide patients through the labor and childbirth process, focusing on the safety of the mother and baby, with kindness and compassion. Everyday you will be a part of the recovery and postpartum which includes supporting families that are celebrating the arrival of a newborn and showing compassion and guidance during challenging moments. To be successful in this role, you must remain calm and sensitive to help people through this huge milestones in their lives.

• Triage walk-ins to determine if a patient is in labor, water is broken, false alarm, etc.
• Support pregnant patients in labor including induction, epidural assistance (if needed), general pain management and fetal monitoring.
• Educate patients on various interventions or procedures, medications (name and purpose), exams, and labor stages.
• Assess newborns and provide care.
• Communicate with the care management team, including anesthesiologist, physician, patient and family.

We are offering up to $10,000 sign-on bonus and up to $10,000 educational assistance to new hires who meet the eligibility requirements.

Job Requirements

• Graduate of an RN nursing program

Where You'll Work

The Family Birth Center at St. Francis Medical Center is a 15 Labor, Delivery, Recover, and Postpartum Unit (single room maternity care). We are a Level II Perinatal Center and care for patients from antepartum, labor, deliver and postpartum including providing mother-baby care CHI Health St. Francis was established in Grand Island Neb. in 1887. Today our hospital is a regional referral center with more than 100 physicians and more than 1,100 employees working together to build a healthier community. Our goal is to provide patients with high-quality medical care close to home where they can be supported by their family friends and community.

Pay Range

$36.00 - $52.20 /hour
