Job summary

Fairview Health Services is seeking skilled Registered Nurses to join the Labor & Delivery team at Burnsville, MN. The unit handles postpartum and labor care across the Birthplace, with ~2,000 deliveries yearly and a patient-/family-centered approach.

This 12-hour night shift position offers an opportunity to contribute to safe, evidence-based maternity care within a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• MN Registered Nurse license is required.
• Basic Life Support certification is required.
• NRP either at hire or within orientation period.
• Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery RN experience.
• Attendance at Fetal monitoring and Pregnancy & Newborn Loss class within 1 year of hire if not already completed.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate nursing care for assigned patient populations.
• Coordinate care with health care team and delegate as appropriate.
• Develop an individualized plan based on age, social and cultural considerations.
• Evaluate care and patient response to interventions and outcomes.
• Communicate effectively with patient, family, and health care team to promote partnership-based care.

Fairview Ridges Birthplace features a 30-bed Postpartum unit, a 9-bed Labor & Delivery unit, and a 3-bed Maternal Assessment Center, supporting approximately 2,000 deliveries each year.

Schedule

This position is 48 hours per pay period, nights,12 hour shifts with every third weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday).

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.

• Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes.
• Collaborates with patient, family and other health team members to develop a nursing plan as part of an integrated, comprehensive plan of care
• Develops an individualized plan based on age, social and cultural considerations, condition and other relevant needs.
• Evaluates care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes.
• Collaborates and communicates effectively and respectfully with the patient, family and members of the health care team within and across care settings to promote partnership-based health care
• Demonstrates the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes.
• Promotes a culture of evidence based practice (EBP)

Required Qualifications

• MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
• Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
• NRP at hire or by completion of orientation period.
• 1 year L&D RN Experience
• Attendance at Fetal monitoring and Pregnancy & Newborn Loss class (both to be completed within 1 yr of hire if not acquired prior to hire).

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in Nursing or BAN
• 1-3 years of L&D experience
