Corewell Health's Labor and Delivery unit seeks an experienced RN to provide professional care in a Level 3 birthing center environment. You will assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge while partnering with patients and families to meet their goals.

Responsibilities include teaching, documentation, and collaboration with the Nurse Leader to ensure high-quality outcomes for antepartum and delivery patients, including complex cases requiring specialized skills.

Qualifications

• Associates in Nursing required; Bachelor's degree within 5 years for new grads or those with limited RN experience.
• Michigan RN license required or within 60 days of hire; BLS/NRP/EFM certifications as outlined.
• L&D and inpatient acute care RN experience strongly preferred; high-risk antepartum exposure is valued.

• Apply nursing process to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge patient care.
• Collaborate with patient/family to set goals and educate on care plans.
• Provide quality care under Nurse Leader guidance and document in health records.

Labor and Delivery is a Level 3 birthing center. The unit has 17 LDR rooms, 3 OR suites, a 3 bed recover room, and an 8-bed triage. Antepartum is a 9-bed unit that is part of the birthing center, with the focus being on high-risk pregnancy.

Scope of work

The RN, under the ANA scope of practice utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge. The RN provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures and recognizes the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes. The RN partners with and utilizes patient/family input and goals in planning plan of care and develops teaching strategies for patient/family; documents education and learning appropriately in health record.

Qualifications

• Associates in Nursing Required
• Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years if new graduate/nurse with less than one (1) year RN experience
• Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.
• MI Registered Nurse (RN) required or if new grad within 60 days of hire
• AHA, ARC, or Canadian Heart and Stroke Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire/transfer
• NRP within 6 months of hire/transfer
• EFM Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification within 1 year
• Specialty Certification highly recommended within 2 years
• Requires inpatient acute care RN experience, highly prefer L&D RN experience
