Key Responsibilities

• Assessment Skills: Demonstrate competent knowledge of all normal stages of growth and development from Pediatric to Geriatric, delivering patient care appropriately. Perform thorough, systematic, comprehensive, and accurate assessments.
• Clinical Skills: Consistently exhibit competent clinical skills by performing direct patient care activities in support of patient care delivery and team concept. Provide competent and appropriate nursing care to the unit's population and demonstrate knowledge and skill of emergency equipment and procedures.
• Documentation: Maintain complete and accurate documentation, demonstrating knowledge of documentation guidelines. Assume primary responsibility for documenting components of the nursing process and patient's progress toward meeting outcomes in the patient's chart, including patient education.
• Professionalism: Display professional practice responsibility by demonstrating knowledge of policies and procedures and identifying areas for clinical and professional growth.
• Patient Satisfaction: Respond to patients, families, and co-workers in a professional, courteous, and positive manner to promote an environment centered on the patient and family. Maintain confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines.
• Safety: Consistently follow the National Patient Safety Goals, including following Universal Protocol and identifying patients utilizing two patient identifiers. Demonstrate the use of safe transfer techniques and proper body mechanics for self and patients.
• Unit Specific Functions: Demonstrate knowledge of the conditions/diagnoses, procedures, and equipment encountered for surgical patients. Individualize patient care according to the procedure and type of anesthesia across the continuum of care. Assess patient reaction and understanding of procedure/instructions.
• Responsibility and Accountability: Contribute to the perioperative team by assuming responsibility and accountability for directing patient care, prioritizing care based on patient needs and any changes in their condition.
• Patient Education and Chart Completion: Assess patient understanding of surgical procedure/instructions and actively include the patient and family members in teaching. Perform pre-operative and postoperative assessment and education.
• Duties Specific to PAT RN: Support the completion of patient testing in a timely manner. Evaluate Pre Admission Testing (PAT) orders for appropriateness and potential omissions based on proposed surgery, patient age, and current state of health.

Schedule

3- 12 hr shifts from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. No on-call hours. May be required to work holidays if there is a need. The worker will not float to other facilities.
