Description:The unit includes two Interventional Radiology suites, with one neuro suite sharing a hybrid room.The average number of cases per day is around 8.Common diagnoses and types of patients include embolization, Y90, neuro procedures, carotid stents, strokes, epistaxis, neph tubes, nephroureteral stent placements, ports, trans-jugular liver biopsies, G-tube and GJ-tube placements, AVF (fistulas), assisting with paracentesis, cardiac CTs, CT abscess drains, and bone marrow procedures.The patient population is primarily adults aged 18 and older, with rare pediatric cases restricted to ages 16-17 for specific cardiac scans.The registered nurse is responsible for comprehensive care during preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative Interventional Radiology procedures.This includes IV starts and administration of sedation.Charting is done using an electronic medical record system.Team collaboration is emphasized, and providers in the unit are described as approachable and supportive.The unit offers opportunities for outdoor activities year-round.Optional call coverage is available for evenings and weekends, with a quick response time required.Required scrubs are provided, and staff are required to adhere to uniform policies.Nursing staff may float to a pain management unit once a week for pre- and post-procedure support.Unit-specific orientation consists of 2-3 shifts of training.
