Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking an RN for Interventional Radiology on the Main Campus in Cleveland. You will work on a day shift from 7:00 am to 7:30 pm, supporting patient care from admission through discharge within Imaging Nursing-Main Campus Hospital.

You will collaborate with a dedicated team, participate in ongoing education, and provide education to patients and families while maintaining essential nursing competencies and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN).
• Current state RN licensure.
• BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross).
• ACLS certification within 6 months of employment.
• CRNI or VA-BC preferred within 3 years where PICC lines used.
• RN experience in Cleveland Clinic procedural department preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to hospitalized patients undergoing diagnostic or therapeutic services.
• Assess patients, document findings, and notify physicians of abnormal results.
• Perform telephone triage and call rotations.
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered.
• Coordinate care plans with patients and families.
• Assist with discharge planning and ongoing care needs.
• Maintain core nursing competencies, CPR and skills labs.
• Cover other nursing roles in the department as needed.

A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. including two weekend shifts within a six-week period.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide nursing care to hospitalized patients undergoing diagnostic or therapeutic services in a variety of healthcare settings.
• Assess patients, complete nursing assessments, document findings in patient records and notify physicians of abnormal findings.
• Perform telephone triage and call rotations.
• Perform nursing procedures and administer treatments and medications.
• Establish care plans in collaboration with patients, families and the health care team.
• Coordinate ongoing care, identify discharge needs and facilitate discharge planning.
• Evaluate, initiate and maintain standards of care.
• Assist with specialized patient care equipment as required by the clinical department and medical specialty assigned.
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered by a physician or LIP.
• Educate patients and families.
• Cover other nursing roles in the department.
• Maintain core competencies in nursing including CPR and skills labs.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing (ADN or BSN program)
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR American Red Cross
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within the first six months of employment
• In areas operating with Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC Lines), Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (CRNI) or Vascular Access Board Certified (VA-BC) certification is preferred within three years of hire.
• One year of recent experience as an RN OR Licensed RN with at least 2 years of LPN experience within the same Cleveland Clinic procedural department may substitute for required RN experience.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Two years of recent experience as an RN
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• ICU experience

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
• Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
• Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
• Requires some exposure to communicable disease or bodily fluids.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
