Job summary

UW Health in Madison, WI seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Pulmonary and Medical IMC unit. The role offers a 90% FTE with evening/night shifts, weekend and holiday rotation, on a 29-bed unit with acuity-based staffing.

You will care for acutely ill patients, including CF and post-lung transplant cases, and engage in evidence-based therapies and quality initiatives. Candidates will pursue ACLS, IMC training, and specialty certification; UW Health supports professional growth, tuition

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) Preferred.
• Six (6) months nursing experience or current participant in UW Health's Nurse Residency Program with successful completion of the Nurse Residency Orientation on unit/similar unit.
• Relevant RN Experience Preferred.
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Upon Hire Required.
• Current CPR/BLS Certification Upon Hire Required.
• ACLS within 6 months Required.
• Relevant certification Preferred.

Responsibilities

• Join a team of remarkable nurses that use compassion and teamwork to care for complex general care and intermediate care level patients on the Pulmonary and Medical IMC unit.
• Work on a 29-bed unit that incorporates safe nurse-to-patient staffing ratios to accommodate the high patient acuities and specialty patient populations cared for here.
• Provide care for acutely ill patients, including those with a diagnosis of Cystic Fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension, as well as patients post lung transplant.
• Be involved in cutting edge, evidence-based therapies and research studies to improve patient outcomes.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and lead practice change.
• Use critical thinking skills and become an expert pulmonary medicine RN.
