Job summary

The Mass General Brigham system is seeking an RN for the Inpatient Oncology unit at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. This 36-hour day/night rotation includes weekends and holidays and requires a minimum of one year of RN experience with an interest in oncology.

The successful candidate will provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care on a 36-bed solid tumor inpatient unit, collaborate with the nursing team and care for diverse patient populations in a high-performing environment.

  • RN licensure in Massachusetts or compact state.
  • Clinical nursing experience preferred in oncology.

Responsibilities

Assure proficient and compassionate nursing care tailored to specific patients. Delegate tasks to clinical and support staff. Be accountable for leading nursing care for a designated patient group. Collaborate with the Nursing Director and Patient Care Team members to achieve efficient patient outcomes. RN's work closely with patients to meet their needs and expectations and to ensure care is safe, efficient, effective, and timely. Meet the cultural, spiritual, and ethnic needs of each patient.

Summary

Accountable for interpreting the plan of medical care, assessment of patients' clinical decision-making regarding nursing care, assuring nursing care is provided in a safe and competent manner, providing individualized nursing care, and evaluating nursing care for groups of patients. Essential Functions
  • Maintain accurate, detailed reports, and records.
  • Administer medications to patients and monitor patients for reactions or side effects.
  • Record patients' medical information and vital signs.
  • Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions.
  • Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
  • Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.
Qualifications

Education Associate's Degree Nursing required or Bachelor's Degree Nursing preferred

Experience

Clinical nursing experience 0-1 year required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Familiarity with the principles and skills needed for practical nursing to provide patient care and treatment.
  • Knowledgeable of the care required by respective age groups for which care is being provided.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and secure sensitive information.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • Ability to accurately screen and triage acute patients.
