Job summary

The Louisiana Veterans Homes are seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to provide compassionate nursing care to residents at the Northeast Louisiana Veterans Home in Monroe, Louisiana. The LPN will implement selected aspects of the care plan under supervision and participate in overall patient care.

We offer a PRN/WAE appointment with day and night shifts and supplemental pay as described. Candidates must hold a Louisiana LPN license (or eligible) and demonstrate strong nursing skills,

Qualifications

• Possession of a current Louisiana Practical Nurse license, a temporary permit, or a multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state.
• We’re looking for a compassionate and reliable LPN to provide quality nursing care to residents in stable and predictable conditions at Northeast Louisiana Veterans Home.

Responsibilities

• Observe patients for changes in physical and/or mental status or behavior and report significant changes.
• Obtain specimens for laboratory testing as assigned.
• Take vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
• Administer medication and treatments in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Transcribe physicians' orders and record medication and the patient's condition in the patient's charts and other records.
• Gather information about the patient's past and current physical and mental status.
• May administer oral and parenteral medication as prescribed by the physician and document procedure.
• Apply dressings, ointments, and other treatments as ordered and document the procedure.
• Assist physicians with routine examinations and treatments.
• Bathe, feed, and make patients comfortable.
• Perform individual and group health teaching as assigned.
