Job summary

UNC Health in Chapel Hill seeks a Clinical Nurse for the Surgical Observation Unit. The 36-hour weekly day shift involves coordinating and delivering nursing care in a fast-paced hospital setting on a state-of-the-art unit.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program.
• If hired after January 6, 2014, must be enrolled within four years of employment, and obtain a Bachelor's degree with a major in Nursing or a Master's degree with a major in Nursing within seven years of employment date.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.

Responsibilities

• Education - Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self.
• Evaluation of Care - Identifies expected patient outcomes; participates in evaluation of patient care with interdisciplinary team.
• Implementation - Delivers patient care with focus on complex problems; performs bedside testing; follows policies and procedures.
• Leadership - Supports unit goals and promotes cost-effective care; communicates effectively across teams.
• Patient Assessment - Synthesizes data to determine priorities; anticipates discharge needs and supports family involvement.
• Planning - Collaborates with patient/family to update the plan of care.
• Research - Reads journals and brings ideas to staff for assessment.
