Job description

As a registered nurse, you are expected to consistently deliver the best in care and customer service and demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy in each encounter with our patients, their families, visitors, and with each other. As part of the healthcare team, RNs assume primary accountability for nursing coordination and provision of individualized care for patients of all ages. The registered nurse also utilizes delegation and critical thinking skills to provide quality service through a team-oriented, collaborative approach to patient care.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Completing age-specific admission and ongoing assessments, documenting findings, and developing a care plan.
2. Collaborating with the healthcare team, patients, and families to develop, implement, and evaluate an age-specific interdisciplinary care plan. Revising the plan based on patient status changes.
3. Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care to achieve optimal outcomes across all age groups relevant to the service area.
4. Accurately administering and documenting treatments and medications using electronic medical records, including automated computer systems.

Qualifications:

• Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program or an approved program eligible to sit for the VA licensure exam.
• Experience: None required.
• Licensure/Certification: Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligibility to obtain it. CPR certification required; ACLS, PALS, NRP certifications as needed.
• Other: Proficiency in computer skills for electronic medical records (EPIC). Successful completion of orientation and competency assessments. Ability to meet essential job functions.
