Job description

As a registered nurse, you are expected to consistently deliver the best in care and customer service and demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy in each encounter with our patients, their families, visitors, and with each other. As part of the healthcare team, RNs assume primary accountability for nursing coordination and provision of individualized care for patients of all ages. The registered nurse also utilizes delegation and critical thinking skills to provide quality service through a team-oriented, collaborative approach to patient care.

The RN's duties include, but may not be limited to the following:

  1. Complete age-specific admission and ongoing assessments, document findings, and develop a plan of care.
  2. Collaborate with members of the healthcare team, patients, and families to develop, implement, and evaluate an age-specific interdisciplinary plan of care. Revise the plan according to changes in patient status.
  3. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care to achieve optimal outcomes for patients of all ages as appropriate to the service area.
  4. Accurately administer and document treatments and medications for patients of all ages using automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.
Qualifications:
  1. Education: Graduate of a school of professional nursing at an accredited college or an approved program eligible to sit for the VA licensure exam.
  2. Experience: None required.
  3. Licensure/Certification: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible to obtain Virginia RN licensure. CPR certification required; ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications as needed.
  4. Other: Computer skills for electronic medical records (EPIC). Successful completion of orientation and competency requirements. Ability to meet essential job functions.
