Job summary

The Registered Nurse in the ICU with strong neuro experience will provide skilled nursing care to a high acuity neuro population, including patients with cardiovascular issues, stroke, STEMI, and surgical needs in a level 2 trauma center environment. The nurse will float between ICU and PCU overflow units, ensuring comprehensive care for critically ill patients.

Responsibilities include assessments, medications, care plans, collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, and documentation in Epic.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years ICU nursing with strong neuro focus.
• Active RN license in the state of practice.
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale.
• Proficiency in cardiovascular, trauma, stroke and surgical cases.
• Ability to float between PCU and ICU overflow units.
• Excellent communication and teamwork across disciplines.

The role involves patient assessments, medication administration, treatment planning, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams in an acute care, level 2 trauma, thrombectomy-capable stroke center environment. The nurse will also float between PCU and ICU overflow units, ensuring comprehensive care for critically ill patients.

• Administer medications and treatments according to care plans.
• Manage care for patients with multi-trauma, stroke, STEMI, CABG/Valve surgeries, IABP, CRRT, and sepsis.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience in thrombectomy-capable stroke centers and STEMI receiving units.
• Familiarity with Epic electronic health records system.
• Experience with CRRT, IABP, and sepsis management.

Special Considerations:

• No weekend shifts required.
• No on-call responsibilities.
• Must float between like units including PCU and ICU overflow.
• Work environment is a Magnet-designated acute care hospital with 377 staffed beds.
• Free parking available for staff.

Scheduling:

• Shift assignments determined by unit needs; includes ICU and PCU overflow coverage.
• Typical day or night shifts in an acute care hospital setting.
