Corewell Health’s Gerber Hospital in Fremont, MI is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse for the Intensive Care Unit 3W. The role involves day shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., with a 24-hour weekly schedule and variable days, including every other weekend.

Qualifications

• Associates in Nursing is the minimum educational credential.
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing required within 5 years.
• RN license valid in Michigan (MI RN) is required.
• BLS certification due within 90 days of start date.
• ACLS certification due within 6 months of start date.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care per ANA standards and state law.
• Demonstrate competency through the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation.
• Uphold professional standards including communication, collaboration and evidence-based practice.
• Strive to achieve optimal patient outcomes in ICU settings.

About the unit

Gerber ICU is 11 beds, 2 of those are observation beds, 9 are inpatient beds. The ICU is going to be refreshed with new paint, flooring, and artwork. It is a mixed unit, so Med/Surg and ICU patients are both present. We offer telemedicine services in pulmonology, neurology, infectious disease, wound, and VICU. Coming soon to Gerber is telemedical palliative care services. We have MRI services 6 days a week, CT, fluoroscopy, general surgery, and orthopedic surgery, care management, medical social workers all on site. A huge push for the Gerber team is to help keep quality care local.

Scope of work

Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. This includes ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization and environmental health. Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.

Qualifications

• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days
• AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Required within 6 months
