The Hand and Upper Extremity clinic is an amazing opportunity in a fast‑paced environment. Staff are responsible for assisting the provider and directing the flow of the clinic. The staff provide nursing care to patients of all ages with surgical and non‑surgical conditions including trauma and fractures of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder.
As a registered nurse, you consistently deliver the best in care and customer service, demonstrating respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy with patients, families, visitors, and colleagues.
RNs assume primary accountability for nursing coordination and provision of individualized care for patients of all ages, utilizing delegation and critical thinking to provide quality service through a team‑oriented, collaborative approach to patient care.
Key duties include:
Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care to achieve optimum outcomes; completing age‑specific admission and ongoing assessments, documenting and using them to develop a plan of care; collaborating with the health‑care team, patient, and family to develop, implement, and evaluate an age‑specific interdisciplinary plan; revising plans according to changes in patient status; accurately administering and documenting treatments and medications; identifying and meeting patient/family educational needs; contributing to performance improvement activities; advocating for patient rights and providing psychological, social, and cultural support; applying growth and development knowledge; performing within clinical, leadership, and education pathways to support evidence‑based, quality patient care; managing resources, setting priorities, and modifying the environment to meet patient care needs; completing predetermined projects within specified timelines; using problem‑solving methods to resolve patient and personnel situations; orienting new employees; providing feedback to staff; and participating in unit, hospital, and system activities to facilitate staff input in decision‑making.
You also assist with education activities for the unit or department.
