Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, VA is seeking a Registered Nurse for the 8 South Radius ICU. The RN will provide comprehensive nursing care to adults with a focus on safe, high-quality outcomes, through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.

The role requires VA RN licensure or eligibility, BLS-HCP certification, and ability to work day/evening/night shifts in a hybrid environment. Strong documentation and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a State Board of Nursing approved program.
• Current Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia or eligibility to obtain licensure.
• Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required; ACLS/PALS/NRP may be required depending on area.
• Keyboarding skills and computer literacy, including use of electronic medical records.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized patient care and coordinate care for patients of all ages.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Document age-specific assessments to support care plans.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to adjust care plans.
• Administer treatments and medications and document care in EMR.
• Identify and address patient education needs and support family education.

8 South Radius is a 12-bed medical-surgical ICU utilizing Internal Medicine services caring for acute and chronic adults.

The RN provides professional nursing care to patients across all age groups, supporting patient-centered care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care. This role collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure safe, effective, and high-quality patient outcomes.

The RN

• Provides individualized patient care and coordinates care delivery for patients of all ages.
• Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Completes and documents age-specific assessments to support development of care plans.
• Collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and adjust care plans.
• Administers treatments and medications accurately and documents care in electronic medical records.
• Identifies and addresses patient and family education needs.
• Participates in performance improvement and quality initiatives.
• Advocates for patients and supports their rights and psychosocial needs.
• Applies knowledge of growth and development to provide age-appropriate care.
• Demonstrates clinical expertise in dynamic and changing care environments.
• Implements strategies to improve patient outcomes and resource utilization.
• Serves as a role model and supports development of peers and team members.
• Manages resources, prioritizes tasks, and adapts to changing patient care needs.

What We Require

• Education: Graduate of a State Board of Nursing approved program required.
• Experience: None.
• Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Current Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia required or eligibility to obtain licensure required.
• Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required. Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, or NRP may be required based on assigned work area.
• Other Minimum Qualifications: Keyboarding skills and computer literacy required, including use of electronic medical records. For Behavioral Health roles, must demonstrate ability to safely manage disruptive or potentially violent patients.

Compensation Range

$33.52 - $50.28 Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
