Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Nursing Supervisor/Director of Nursing in South Carolina to lead day-to-day nursing operations in a long-term care facility. You will supervise staff, ensure high-quality resident care, and coordinate with the medical team.

The role requires an active SC RN license, CPR, and a nursing degree, with strong leadership and knowledge of care regulations. You will mentor staff, manage schedules, and participate in quality assurance initiatives.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Supervise day-to-day nursing activities during the assigned tour of duty.
  • Provide leadership and clinical oversight for nursing staff.
  • Ensure residents receive exceptional, compassionate care.
  • Support and mentor nurses, CNAs, and other clinical team members.
  • Assist with staffing, scheduling, work assignments, and daily operations.
  • Respond to resident, family, and staff concerns.
  • Provide clinical support during emergencies and complex situations.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and facility regulations.
  • Assist the Director of Nursing with nursing-service operations, policies, procedures, reports, quality assurance, surveys, and discharge planning.
  • Attend and support facility committee meetings and implement committee recommendations.
  • Supervise staffing levels, nursing personnel performance, safety, infection control, and departmental procedures.
  • Conduct rounds, monitor resident conditions, coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharges, and provide direct nursing care.
  • Monitor medication passes, treatment schedules, documentation, care plans, and resident assessments.
  • Participate in staff development, in-service training, safety programs, and continuing education.
  • Maintain adequate equipment and supplies and support preventive maintenance and safe equipment operation.

Job description

Requirements
  • Current, unencumbered, active RN license in good standing in South Carolina
  • Current CPR certification
  • Nursing degree from an accredited college or university
  • Training in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices
  • 2 years or more of experience, preferably in a long-term care facility
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Ability to read technical procedures and policy and procedure manuals
  • Knowledge of nursing and medical practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines for nursing care facilities
  • Leadership and supervisory ability
  • Ability to make independent decisions and solve practical problems
  • Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret nursing programs, goals, policies, and procedures
  • Knowledge and experience with PCC preferred
  • Maintain required continuing education/licensing and remain in good standing with the State Board of Nursing
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday
  • Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift at least 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and carry it at least 50 feet
  • Must meet facility health requirements, including medical and physical examination
  • Must be able to work effectively with elderly, ill, disabled, emotionally upset, and sometimes hostile people
  • Must not pose a direct threat to workplace health or safety
  • May need to assist with resident evacuation during emergencies
