Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Mount Pleasant, SC to provide direct skilled nursing care to residents and supervise nursing assistants. The candidate will administer medications, monitor health, and communicate changes to physicians as part of a collaborative healthcare team.

The ideal candidate holds an SC LPN license, CPR certification, and strong knowledge of nursing practices, with flexibility to work beyond regular hours as needed.

Qualifications

  • Nursing degree from an accredited college or university, or graduation from an approved LPN/LVN program.
  • Current, unencumbered, active South Carolina LPN/LVN license in good standing.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Must read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Knowledge of nursing practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and facility guidelines.
  • Knowledge and experience with PCC preferred.
  • Must maintain continuing education and licensing.
  • Must remain in good standing with the State Board of Nursing.
  • Ability to provide care appropriate to residents’ age-related needs.
  • Leadership and supervisory ability.
  • Ability to make independent decisions and work with residents, families, personnel, visitors, and the public.
  • Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret nursing programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to move intermittently and cope with mental and emotional stress.
  • Ability to push/pull/move at least 25 pounds to 5 feet height for 50 feet.
  • Assist with resident evacuation during emergencies.
  • Must meet facility health requirements.
  • Must not pose a direct threat to workplace health or safety.
  • Willingness to work beyond normal hours, and be subject to emergency call-back.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct skilled nursing care to residents.
  • Supervise day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants.
  • Administer medications and treatments as ordered.
  • Monitor residents’ health and communicate changes to physicians and the healthcare team.
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, CNAs, fellow nurses, residents, families, and support departments.
  • Admit, transfer, and discharge residents.
  • Complete nursing documentation, charting, reports, forms, and care-plan updates.
  • Receive and transcribe physician orders.
  • Perform nursing procedures including catheterization, tube feedings, suction, dressing changes, colostomy care, specimen collection, vital signs, and ROM exercises.
  • Make rounds, monitor seriously ill residents, and ensure prescribed treatments are administered.
  • Coordinate diagnostic, therapeutic, social, activity, restorative, and rehabilitative services.
  • Provide leadership, staffing support, work assignments, performance feedback, and supervision to nursing personnel.
  • Participate in quality assurance, inspections, staff development, infection control, safety, and disaster-preparedness programs.
  • Maintain adequate medication, equipment, and supply levels.
  • Review resident care plans and ensure care aligns with needs and wishes.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, sanitary, and caring environment.
  • Report accidents, incidents, exposures, suspected fraud, unauthorized access, and changes in resident condition as required.
