Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a registered nurse for the Hospitalist Unit at UAB Hospital-Highlands. The role uses the nursing process to promote health, prevent illness, and deliver collaborative, cost-effective patient care in a 24-bed acute care unit with virtual nursing support.

Ideal candidates graduate from an accredited nursing program, hold an RN license in Alabama (or eligible), and have BLS certification with unit-specific ACLS/PALS as needed. Full-time day shift with 7 a.m.–7 p.m.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Nursing program required.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
• Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
• Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association required or to be obtained within 30 days of employment.
• ACLS and/or PALS may be required depending on unit/department.

Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to care for and counsel individuals in health promotion and illness prevention.
• Apply systematic critical-thinking to guide data gathering, assessment, nursing judgment, intervention and evaluation.
• Delegate, coordinate and manage all aspects of nursing care with a licensed physician, psychologist, podiatrist, or dentist when needed.
