Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital is seeking an experienced RN to join the Endoscopy team in Cleveland, OH. You will provide nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and collaborate with the health care team to ensure safe, compassionate care.

Expect responsibilities including patient assessments, medication administration, telephone triage, discharge planning and family education. Shifts are 7:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m. with on-call requirements.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing (ADN or BSN)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within six months
  • In PICC areas: CRNI or VA-BC preferred within three years
  • One year RN experience or 2 years LPN experience substituting for RN

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care to hospitalized patients undergoing diagnostic or therapeutic services
  • Assess patients, document findings, notify physicians of abnormal findings
  • Perform telephone triage and call rotations
  • Administer medications and treatments as ordered
  • Establish care plans with patients and families
  • Coordinate discharge planning and ongoing care
  • Maintain core nursing competencies including CPR and labs

The Endoscopy department offers upper gastrointestinal endoscopy for esophageal, stomach and duodenal disorders, wireless capsule endoscopy and balloon-assisted enteroscopy for intestinal disorders, colonoscopy for diagnostic and therapeutic interventions for colonic disease, and ERCP and endoscopic ultrasound for pancreatic and biliary disorders. This is a highly experienced team of caregivers that collaborate on various endoscopy procedures to achieve excellent medical outcomes for patients.

As an RN on this team, you will assist fellow caregivers in delivering exceptional care by interacting directly with patients, families, and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and supply healthcare information as needed. This position requires a caregiver who is empathetic, understanding and nurturing to ensure quality patient care and effective life‑saving treatment. This position allows you to use your comprehensive skills and expertise to deliver outstanding care while providing you numerous opportunities to explore educational development courses and advance the Professional Ladder at Cleveland Clinic.

A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. with on-call requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:
  • Provide nursing care to hospitalized patients undergoing diagnostic or therapeutic services in a variety of healthcare settings.
  • Assess patients, complete nursing assessments, document findings in patient records and notify physicians of abnormal findings.
  • Perform telephone triage and call rotations.
  • Perform nursing procedures and administer treatments and medications.
  • Establish care plans in collaboration with patients, families and the health care team.
  • Coordinate ongoing care, identify discharge needs and facilitate discharge planning.
  • Evaluate, initiate and maintain standards of care.
  • Assist with specialized patient care equipment as required by the clinical department and medical specialty assigned.
  • Administer medications and treatments as ordered by a physician or LIP.
  • Educate patients and families.
  • Cover other nursing roles in the department.
  • Maintain core competencies in nursing including CPR and skills labs.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing (ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR American Red Cross
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within the first six months of employment
  • In areas operating with Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC Lines), Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (CRNI) or Vascular Access Board Certified (VA-BC) certification is preferred within three years of hire.
  • One year of recent experience as an RN OR Licensed RN with at least 2 years of LPN experience within the same Cleveland Clinic procedural department may substitute for required RN experience.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • Two years of recent experience as an RN
  • One year of critical care experience in a hospital setting
Physical Requirements:
  • Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye‑hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
  • Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
  • Requires some exposure to communicable disease or bodily fluids.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment:
  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $35.50

Maximum hourly: $55.60
