Qualifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; PALS if in ED per hire.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; clinical competence.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic or therapeutic services in hospital settings.
  • Assess patients, document findings, and notify physicians of abnormalities.
  • Perform triage calls and coordinate rotations; administer treatments and medications.
  • Establish care plans with patients, families, and the health care team.
  • Coordinate discharge planning and ongoing care; support standard of care; educate patients and families.

Job Summary

The Interventional Radiology RN supports patients during minimally invasive, image-guided vascular and non-vascular procedures involving the body from the neck down. This area performs a wide range of procedures including central line placement, angiograms, angioplasty/stenting, thrombolysis/thrombectomy, embolization, drain placements, biliary and nephrostomy interventions, and tumor-directed therapies. The RN provides procedural nursing support, assists with patient monitoring during procedures, administers and monitors sedation as appropriate, supports the physician and procedural team, and responds to changes in patient condition during moderate- to high-acuity cases. ED, PACU, or Critical Care experience is preferred, though other relevant RN experience will be considered.

A caregiver in this position works night s | 7:00pm-7:30am| Thursday & Friday nights| Holidays - closed on hospital's recognized holidays.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:
  • Provide nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic or therapeutic services to hospitalized patients in various healthcare settings.
  • Assess patients, complete nursing assessments, document findings in patient records and notify physicians of abnormal findings.
  • Perform telephone triage and call rotations.
  • Perform nursing procedures and administer treatments and medications.
  • Establish care plans in collaboration with patients, families and the health care team.
  • Coordinate ongoing care, identify discharge needs and facilitate discharge planning.
  • Evaluate, initiate and maintain standards of care.
  • Educate patients and families.
  • Cover other nursing roles in the department.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (Diploma, ADN, BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • If in an ED, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire or within one year of beginning work in the Emergency Department.
  • If in areas operating with Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC Lines), Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (CRNI ) or Vascular Access Board Certified (VA-BC) certification is preferred within three years of hire.
  • One year of recent experience as an RN
  • OR Licensed RN with at least 2 years of LPN experience within the same Cleveland Clinic procedural department (may substitute for required RN experience)
  • Current demonstrated clinical competence
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Two years of recent experience as an RN
  • ICU experience
Physical Requirements:
  • Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
  • Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
  • Requires some exposure to communicable disease or bodily fluids.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
