Job summary

Software Placement Group, SPG is seeking a Hemodialysis Registered Nurse for a long-term care facility in Rockford, IL. This on-site, full-time role delivers bedside dialysis care under the guidance of the Unit Medical Director and adheres to state and federal standards.

You will initiate and monitor hemodialysis, manage vascular access, administer medications, and educate residents and families while maintaining safety protocols and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Active RN license per state requirements.
• Knowledge of ESRD and hemodialysis procedures.
• Commitment to ongoing clinical education and professional development.
• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Approximately one year nursing experience.
• Current appropriate state licensure.
• Successful completion of training course in theory and practice of hemodialysis.
• Valid driver's license and insurance for business travel if needed.
• CPR Healthcare Recognition according to the American Heart Association.
• Possesses reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Safely initiate, monitor, and discontinue hemodialysis procedures; conduct pre- and post-treatment assessments.
• Perform vascular access care, administer medications, draw blood, and manage transfusions within scope.
• Follow isolation protocols, universal precautions, and safe patient-handling techniques.
• Develop individualized nursing care plans and provide ongoing education to patients and families.
• Identify and report acute dialysis-related complications and intervene as needed.
• Operate, sanitize, and maintain hemodialysis machines and water treatment systems.
• Manage clinical inventory, order supplies, and maintain an audit-ready workspace.
• Identify equipment malfunctions and report technical anomalies promptly.
• Coordinate with physicians, care coordinators, and facility staff.
• Assist with onboarding and training; participate in CQI initiatives and team meetings.
• Maintain knowledge of dialysis equipment and related emergency equipment.

Overview

A long-term care nursing facility that utilizes the hemodialysis (HD) treatment modality is seeking a dedicated Hemodialysis Registered Nurse to deliver exceptional, patient-centered chronic dialysis care. Working under the guidance of the Unit Medical Director, this role provides specialized bedside care, ensures strict adherence to state and federal standards, and builds meaningful relationships with long-term residents.

What you'll do

• Safely initiate, monitor, and discontinue hemodialysis procedures; conduct thorough pre- and post-treatment clinical assessments
• Perform vascular access care, administer medications, draw blood samples, and manage blood transfusions within scope of practice
• Execute strict isolation protocols, universal precautions, and safe patient-handling techniques
• Develop individualized nursing care plans and provide ongoing clinical education to patients and families
• Promptly identify, intervene, and report acute medical or dialysis-related complications
• Safely operate, sanitize, and perform routine maintenance on hemodialysis machines and water treatment systems
• Manage clinical inventory, order supplies, and maintain an organized, audit-ready clinical workspace
• Identify and immediately report equipment malfunctions or technical anomalies
• Coordinate closely with physicians, medical directors, care coordinators, and facility staff
• Assist with onboarding and training new clinical personnel; participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives and team meetings
• Maintain working knowledge of hemodialysis and related ancillary and emergency equipment, including reuse equipment, water treatment equipment, computer, hemodialysis machines, sphygmomanometer, conductivity meter, glucometers, scale, electronic thermometers, centrifuge, EKG machine, IV infusion pump, code cart, suction machine, oxygen administration equipment, and personal protective equipment

Required qualifications

• Successful completion of current CPR Healthcare Recognition according to the American Heart Association
• Possesses reliable transportation

Preferred qualifications

• Bachelors in nursing or health-related field preferred
• Hemodialysis experience desirable
• ICU/CCU experience preferred
• Computer knowledge desirable
