Job summary

Sovah Health - Martinsville is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our Float Pool, delivering high-quality patient care across departments. This role requires adaptability, strong clinical skills, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team in a supportive environment.

The position emphasizes safety, documentation accuracy, patient education, and careful coordination of transfers and discharges. Active Virginia licensure and BLS are essential; ACLS/PALS may be required after hiring.

Qualifications

• Active Virginia RN license (single-state) or compact license.
• Associate degree in nursing required.
• Basic Life Support certification required.
• ACLS or will be required within 3 months of hire.
• PALS or ENPC (American Heart Association/ENA) required or within 6 months of hire.
• Two years hospital nursing experience in ICU and/or Emergency Department preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs plan-of-care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and related care.
• Documents care provided in a timely, accurate manner.
• Monitors and communicates patient condition to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
• Assists with activities of daily living (hygiene, elimination, nutrition, ambulation).
• Floats throughout the building to support departments and staff.
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate care (transfers, discharges, referrals, psychosocial/spiritual support).
• Assesses learning needs; provides age- and culture-appropriate patient/family education.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
