Job summary

Corewell Health’s Gerber Hospital in Fremont, CA is seeking a Float OB/Med Surg Registered Nurse for night shift coverage. The unit encompasses 13 beds (OB and Med/Surg), with ongoing refreshes and on-site imaging and support services.

Qualifications

• Associates in Nursing required; Bachelor's in Nursing within 5 years preferred.
• MI RN license required (out-of-state license may be considered)
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC/ENPC certifications preferred or required within specified timelines.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care following ANA standards and state law through the nursing process (assess, diagnose, outcomes, plan, implement, evaluate).
• Demonstrate professional practice including ethics, cultural care, communication, collaboration, and evidence-based care.

Float OB / Med Surg

About the unit

Gerber Med Surg is 13 beds. 4 are observation and 9 are inpatient. The unit is currently undergoing a refresh, new paint, flooring, and artwork in the halls and patient rooms, in addition to a new nurses station, breakroom and staff bathroom. Gerber Med Surg is home to our largest patient population and is a cornerstone of the hospital. We offer telemedicine services in pulmonology, neurology, infectious disease, and wound. Coming soon to Gerber are telemedicine palliative care services. We have MRI services 6 days a week, CT, fluoroscopy, general and orthopedic surgery, care management, medical social workers all on site, a huge push for the Gerber team is to help keep quality care local.

About the unit

Gerber OB has 7- Patient in room through Labor/Delivery, Recovery, and Post-Partum; 1 Short Term Observation Room; 3 Bed Triage for Prenatal testing/additional procedures; 1 Surgical Suite for C-Sections

Scope of work

Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. This includes ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization and environmental health. Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.

Qualifications

• Associates in Nursing Required
• Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years
• MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days
• AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Required within 6 months
• CRT-Pediatric Adv Life Support (PALS) - AHA American Heart Association within 180 Days
• CRT-Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) - ENA Emergency Nurses Association within 1 Year
• CRT-Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) - ENA Emergency Nurses Association within 1 Year
