Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) to support surgeons in general and specialized operations. The RNFA will prepare instrumentation, assist with procedures, and monitor patients before, during, and after surgery.

This role requires independent perioperative assessment and coordination with the surgical team. The RNFA must be a licensed RN in Illinois with BLS and CNOR certification, and have completed an accredited RNFA program.

Qualifications

• Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in Illinois (IDFPR)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - AHA
• Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR)
• RNFA program completion required

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon in general and specialized surgeries
• Prepare trays, instrumentation, and supplies for procedures
• Provide patient care and support
• Administer medications
• Scrub and circulate as needed
• Position patient and monitor vital signs
• Educate patient and family on operation and aftercare
• Post-operative assessments and wound monitoring
• Assist in room turnover and equipment management
• Participate in perioperative research
