Job summary

UCI Health is seeking an RN First Assistant to join the perioperative team. The RNFA will work closely with the surgeon to provide advanced nursing care before, during, and after operative procedures.

Responsibilities include preoperative assessment and intraoperative assistance under the surgeon's direction. The role requires RNFA certification, CA RN licensure, and experience in perioperative settings, including robotic surgery training and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of an RNFA program that meets the AORN standards with continued certification.
• Strong ability to read, write, and verbally communicate effectively in English.
• Must work under standardized procedures and be approved by IDP and Credentials Committees.
• Prior robotic surgery training and knowledge of da Vinci components required.
• Minimum two years perioperative nursing experience and minimum one year RFNA experience.
• Knowledge of surgical anatomy, physiology, and operative techniques.
• Excellent organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated customer service skills and ability to work in a high-stress environment.
• Current unrestricted RN licensure in California; BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide preoperative assessment and intraoperative assistance as RNFA under surgeon direction.
• Deliver postoperative management and collaborate with the team for patient-centered care.
• Coordinate care between surgeon, anesthesiologist, and OR staff; maintain standards.
