Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL seeks a skilled perioperative RN First Assistant to collaborate with the surgeon and healthcare team. You will provide intraoperative nursing care to ensure safe operations and optimal patient outcomes throughout the perioperative experience.

The ideal candidate has a nursing degree with CNOR, OR experience, and an Alabama RN license or eligibility; BLS is required and ACLS is preferred. RNFA enrollment or completion is expected within set timelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Advanced Practice Nursing required.
• Two years of operating room experience as scrub nurse, circulating nurse or APRN required.
• RN license in Alabama or eligibility required.
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
• RNFA program enrollment or completion (AORN compliant) required or in progress with remaining hours.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the surgeon and healthcare team to perform a safe operation.
• Provide perioperative nursing and clinical judgment during intraoperative phase.
• Demonstrate necessary knowledge and skills for perioperative practice.
