Job Description
Bachelor of Science in Nursing from accredited nursing program. Current CNOR, Successful completion of a RN First Assistant course and internship that meets AORN Standards for RN First Assistant Education Programs. RNFA program consists of a course and internship equivalent to a minimum of a 3 semester credit hour didactic component and a minimum of a 3 semester credit hour clinical component of formal, academic, post basic nursing study which incorporates all of the content in the current edition of the Core Curriculum for the RN First Assistant and college credit is awarded along with a degree or certificate. The RNFA program is associated with a nursing program that is approved/recognized/accredited by a state board of nursing, accredited by a national nursing accrediting agency that is recognized by the US Department of Education, if eligible; in a university or college that is accredited by an institutional accrediting agency that is recognized by the US Department of Education. Current NY licensure as a Registered Nurse; BLS, CNOR, RNFA, ACLS and PALS within 6 months.
RNFA experience or RNFA clinical internship experience that is consistent with area(s) of need and is current within past three (3) years preferred. Three (3) years diversified perioperative nursing experience, both scrubbing and circulating required. Minimum of 1 year medical surgical nursing experience. Requires critical thinking skills, working collaboratively with a variety of licensed and non-licensed professionals internal and external to hospital operations, application of clinical knowledge and skills in performance of patient care in new and evolving situations, clear communication of educational materials and clinical procedures, clinical administration of a full patient assignment, decisive judgment often exerted in emergent situations, time management and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
