Qualifications

  • Degree from accredited nursing program (Minimum ADN).
  • Licensure: State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License required.
  • BLS Certification from AHA, ASHI, or Red Cross.
  • NRP certification.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee delivery of patient care, directing and delegating assignments to home health aides and nursing staff based on patient needs and staff capability.
  • Maintain clinical competence in direct patient care, evaluate outcomes, consult with specialists, and adjust care as needed.
  • Coordinate patient care with patient, family, physicians, and community resources.
  • Educate patients and families about rights, informed consent and discharge planning; perform teaching using demonstrations.
  • Ensure knowledge of current nursing research, practice standards, guidelines and hospital policies to improve care quality.
  • Supervise home health aides to ensure Medicare/Medicaid compliance; participate in on-call triage and visits as needed.
