Job summary

SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University’s Department of Nursing is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse 1 for the Epilepsy program. The RN1 provides direct nursing care, develops and updates care plans, administers medications, and participates in multidisciplinary rounds to support patient outcomes.

Under NYS licensure, the RN1 will supervise nursing activities, train Graduate Nurses and other staff, ensure infection control standards, and educate patients and families about treatment goals.

Qualifications

• Current New York State Registered Professional Nurse license.
• Ability to provide direct nursing care in accordance with Article 139.
• Experience supervising staff and training Graduate Nurses is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepares or assists with nursing care plans aligned with treatment plans.
• Carries out treatment procedures, administers medications, and monitors patients.
• Records and maintains medical records and nursing care plans.
• Participates in development and revision of care plans with a multidisciplinary team.
• Trains paraprofessional staff in nursing techniques.
