Job summary

The George Washington University Hospital is seeking an Endoscopy Registered Nurse to provide specialized nursing care for diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures in a fast-paced procedural setting.

The RN will perform pre-procedure assessments, provide intra-procedure support, and deliver post-procedure recovery care, collaborating with physicians, anesthesia providers, and the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, high-quality patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Current RN license (DC or compact, must have by start date).
• Minimum 1 year of acute care RN experience.
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA or Red Cross).
• Preferred: Endoscopy or procedural RN experience; BSN or higher degree; CGRN or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-procedure assessments and patient education.
• Administer medications and moderate sedation per protocol.
• Monitor patient condition throughout procedures, responding promptly to changes.
• Provide recovery and discharge teaching to patients and families.
• Collaborate with physicians and team members to optimize workflow and patient safety.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR.
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention, safety standards, and hospital policies.
