Job summary

Universal Health Services' Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center in Washington, DC seeks an experienced Endoscopy Technician to join the per-diem/PRN pool. You will prepare rooms, gather endoscopy equipment, and assist doctors and nurses during procedures.

You will ensure equipment functions, monitor patients, and help with sterilization and infection control between cases. The role supports a high-quality, safe environment for patients in a busy endoscopy suite.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of CNA/MA course or nursing study.
  • At least 1 year experience as Endoscopy tech/assistant.

Responsibilities

  • Periodically check patients and monitor vital signs during procedures.
  • Deliver care in a competent, caring, efficient manner.
  • Assist doctors and nurses during procedures and hand tools or samples.
  • Sterilize gear after each procedure and ensure equipment works properly.
  • Document patient data per guidelines (blood sugars, EKG).

Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health is the first new full-service hospital in Washington, DC in more than 20 years, integrating clinical care with existing community providers, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC's), The George Washington University Hospital, and our Urgent Care Center in Ward 8. This integrated delivery system is a robust network of care for all District residents, but more importantly, it ensures that residents of Wards 7 and 8 have access to high quality care in their community.

This full-service hospital includes 136 beds (with the ability to expand to 184 beds), a verified trauma center, adult and pediatric emergency departments, maternal health and newborn delivery, an ambulatory pavilion for clinic visits and other outpatient services, a 500-car garage, and a helipad for emergency transport.

We are seeking an experienced Endoscopy Technician (Per-Diem/PRN)

Our ideal candidate readies rooms and gear for endoscopy work. The Endoscopy Technician will gather all needed tools, like endoscopes, light sources, and video monitors. The Endoscopy Technician will check to confirm that all equipment works right. They help doctors and nurses during procedures, handing them tools or samples. They watch patients to note any problems. After each procedure, the person cleans and sterilizes all gear. The incumbent will use special cleaners and machines to kill germs. This work follows strict rules to stop infections from spreading. The goal is to keep patients and staff safe.

Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Periodically check patients, take vital signs, monitor pulse oximetry, observe condition of the patient and patient care equipment or devices, and report changes from baseline patient status to appropriate patient care team member.
  • Deliver care to the patient in a competent, capable, caring, and efficient manner.
  • Assess, observe, report, and record signs and symptoms indicative of changes in the general condition of the patient and monitor patient vital signs during procedures and in the recovery area.
  • Assess, observe, and report pertinent and significant patient responses to treatments and/or procedures. Perform routine analysis and studies as requested.
  • Demonstrate ability to prioritize and adjust plan of care or adapt to changing priorities and plan of care as delegated.
  • Apply knowledge of growth and development over the lifespan.
  • Apply the knowledge and sills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her assigned unit relative to his/her age specific healthcare needs.
  • Assess data reflective of each patient's status and interpret information needed to identify each patient's age requirement relative to his/her age specific healthcare needs.
  • Communicate and collaborate with other care providers to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Document provided according to established guidelines i.e., blood sugars, EKG.
  • Perform a variety of medical record activities to maintain an orderly and complete record.
  • Participate in appropriate patient/family teaching as designated per individual role.
  • Perform other job duties/assignments as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalency
  • Completion of Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant Course, two years of nursing school, or other recent comparable education
  • At least one year, preferably more, experience as an Endoscopy tech/assistant
