Job summary

Children's Health Dallas is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department. This night-shift, on-site role requires a BSN and active Texas RN license with BLS/ACLS/NRP/PALS as applicable.

You will deliver direct patient care in critical care settings, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and develop individualized care plans while upholding safety and patient rights. Experience in emergency or critical care settings is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required or equivalent.
• Active RN license in the State of Texas; expected healthcare provider credentials.
• Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS); Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP); Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required or department-specific within stated timeframes.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in the Emergency department using nursing process and clinical judgment.
• Collaborate with physicians and health care team to develop and implement care plans.
• Ensure safety, patient rights, and quality of care across shifts.
• Educate patients and families and consider diversity in care delivery.
• Coordinate care with multi-disciplinary team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Summary

Independently performs the functions of a registered nurse in direct patient care. Utilizes the nursing process in the delivery of developmentally appropriate care. Also works in collaboration with other health care professionals to provide a comprehensive plan of care to meet the patient/family needs. Critical care settings are defined as intensive care units and/or emergency department.

Responsibilities

• Responsible and accountable for prescribing, delegating and coordinating patient care. Uses clinical judgment based on nursing skills acquired through formal and informal experiential knowledge and evidence based guidelines to globally assess the patient's situation and through critical thinking and clinical decision making, develop an appropriate plan of care for the patient, with the aim of promoting comfort.
• Accountable that patient care meets standards of safety, effectiveness, patient rights and guest relations.
• Oversees care delivered by patient care team; coordinates plan of care.
• Provides education and facilitates learning for patients, families, and patient care team in a way that demonstrates a sensitivity to recognize, appreciate, and incorporate differences related to diversity.
• Collaborates with physicians, families and other healthcare professionals to assist in developing and implementing an appropriate plan of care in a way that promotes/encourages each person's contributions towards achieving the best patient outcomes.

WORK EXPERIENCE

• At least 1 year registered nursing experience required

EDUCATION

• BSN in Nursing required.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

• Registered Nurse-1N-RN Essential Current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas - Time Frame: Upon Hire
• Basic Life Support-2R-BLS Essential Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support-2R-ACLS Essential ACLS/NRP/PALS (Department specific requirements - see addendum) - Time Frame: 180 Days
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program-2P-NRP Essential ACLS/NRP/PALS (Department specific requirements - see addendum) - Time Frame: 180 Days
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support-2R-PALS Essential ACLS/NRP/PALS (Department specific requirements - see addendum) - Time Frame: 180 Days
