Job summary

Children's Health in Dallas, TX invites a Registered Nurse to join an on-site 16-week assignment in the Emergency Room. This role requires 1 year of related experience, a TX RN license, BSN, and BLS. PALS is required with certification within 6 months of hire, and rotations include 3PM-3AM shifts (2-3 per week).

The RN collaborates with physicians and care teams to deliver comprehensive, developmentally appropriate care, ensuring safety and quality at every step.

Qualifications

• BSN is required.
• Current Registered Nurse license to practice in Texas.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements.
• PALS required; new employees must obtain life support department specific certification within 6 months of hire.
• At least 1 year job related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prescribes, delegates and coordinates patient care with clinical judgment to develop an appropriate plan of care.
• Ensures patient care meets safety standards, patient rights, and guest relations.
• Oversees care delivered by the patient care team and coordinates the care plan.
• Educates patients and families, recognizing diversity in care and communication needs.
• Collaborates with physicians and healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.

Summary

Independently performs the functions of a registered nurse in direct patient care. Utilizes the nursing process in the delivery of developmentally appropriate care. Also works in collaboration with other health care professionals to provide a comprehensive plan of care to meet the patient/family needs.

Responsibilities

• Responsible and accountable for prescribing, delegating and coordinating patient care. Uses clinical judgment based on nursing skills acquired through formal and informal experiential knowledge and evidence based guidelines to globally assess the patient's situation and through critical thinking and clinical decision making, develop an appropriate plan of care for the patient, with the aim of promoting comfort.
• Accountable that patient care meets standards of safety, effectiveness, patient rights and guest relations.
• Oversees care delivered by patient care team; coordinates plan of care.
• Provides education and facilitates learning for patients, families, and patient care team in a way that demonstrates a sensitivity to recognize, appreciate, and incorporate differences related to diversity.
• Collaborates with physicians, families and other healthcare professionals to assist in developing and implementing an appropriate plan of care in a way that promotes/encourages each person's contributions towards achieving the best patient outcomes.

Work Experience

• At least 1 year job related experience preferred.

EDUCATION

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

• Current Registered Nurse license to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements required.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required. New employees must obtain life support department specific certification within 6 months of hire.
