Job Description

Provide professional nursing care to assigned patients, collaborating with the medical staff and healthcare team to ensure quality care. Activities are performed in accordance with policies and guides, with supervision and delegation to ancillary personnel as appropriate.

Essential Functions
  • Triaging, recognizing critical presentations such as stroke and chest pain, using green/red bags.
  • Medication reconciliation and understanding.
  • Performing IV starts and blood collection.
  • Assessing and addressing patient and family needs, ongoing patient assessment, and documenting responses.
  • Initiating discharge planning using an interdisciplinary approach.
  • Providing patient and family education regarding hospitalization, medications, and discharge instructions.
  • Practicing safe medication administration, documenting outcomes, and completing medication reconciliation.
  • Assisting with orientation and training of staff as directed.
Qualifications
Minimum Education
  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing required.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Required Skills
  • Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work effectively in stressful environments.
Certifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 3 months of hire.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 3 months of hire.
  • Handle with care within 4 months of hire.
Licenses

Current RN license to practice in NC (NC licensure or multi-state license).

Experience

1-3 years, with recent acute care experience preferred.
