Job summary

FirstHealth of the Carolinas in central North Carolina seeks a skilled registered nurse to triage and stabilize patients in the emergency setting. The role requires coordinating care with the ER team, administering critical medications, and ensuring accurate documentation in the EHR.

The ideal candidate holds a North Carolina RN license (or multi-state licensure) and current ACLS, PALS, and BLS certifications, with TNCC/CEN preferred.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Triage incoming patients using ESI acuity level
• Manage care for patients with acute illnesses, injuries, trauma, or allergic reactions
• Assess patient care needs to determine treatment prioritization
• Collaborate with the emergency room team to establish goals and care plan
• Administer life-sustaining medications, resuscitative IV fluids, and blood products
• Stabilize patients for further treatment
• Monitor vital signs and document findings in the EHR
• Perform diagnostic tests and assist with bedside procedures to stabilize critically ill patients
• Document patient care and communicate with the healthcare team
• Provide patient education including follow-up care instructions
• Provide emotional support to patients, caregivers, and family

The nurse will triage patients to determine prioritization of care, diagnostic testing, and other requirements. The nurse will help stabilize patients, document symptoms, and elevate concerns to medical provider. The nurse must be able to multitask effectively while providing excellent patient care.
