Job summary

FirstHealth of the Carolinas, a nationally recognized health care system in central North Carolina, seeks an Emergency Room Technician to support safe patient flow in the ER under the supervision of the Charge Nurse and medical direction of the ER Physician.

The role requires maintaining required certifications through ongoing education, skill testing, and state re-certification processes, ensuring high-quality patient care across 75 locations in the service area.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent plus 1 year of related experience or equivalent.
• Current North Carolina EMS Paramedic certification/licensure.
• Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ACLS) certifications.

As a member of the Emergency Medical Services team, the Emergency Room Technician provides direct and indirect patient care through protocols set by FirstHealth of Carolina to maintain safe and effective patient flow in the Emergency Room. The Emergency Room Technician works under the supervision of the Emergency Room Charge Nurse and the medical direction of the ER Physician, and is accountable for providing care within established standards of practice. The ER Technician maintains required certifications and skills by participation in continuing education, practical skills testing, and the re-certification processes set by the state of North Carolina and FirstHealth.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school and at least one (1) year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.


• Current North Carolina Emergency Medical Services Paramedic certification/licensure is required.


• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.


• Current AHA Advanced Life Support (ACLS) is required.


• AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or current North Carolina Advance EMT (AEMT) with current certification in BCLS, BTLS, PHTLS, and ACLS.
