Description
The registered nurse assumes principal responsibility for total care of assigned clients in the respective unit.
Responsibilities
- This nurse is responsible for assessment, reassessment, establishment of nursing diagnoses, formulation of the written plan of care, implementation of care, and evaluation of care.
- The nurse initiates health care training and education to the client and family as required, supporting the goals of Andalusia Health and the Department of Nursing.
- The registered nurse demonstrates awareness of ongoing needs of the unit and provides leadership and direction to other team members to maintain high standards of nursing care.
- The position includes supervising other licensed and non-licensed nursing personnel in the unit.
- Flexibility in scheduling is required, including working all shift patterns, weekends, and holidays to ensure continuous and appropriate nursing coverage.
- The nurse provides age-specific and diagnosis-specific care to the patient population.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Associate's degree required.
Skills and Certifications
- Ability to function effectively in stressful situations.
- Excellent verbal communication skills related to nursing theory and practice.
- Responsibility and accountability in providing, delegating, and coordinating nursing care.
- Proficiency in assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care considering age and diagnosis.
- Certifications: BLS and ACLS.
- Current Alabama RN license.
- BLS/CPR required within 30 days of hire; ACLS within 6 months.
