Job summary

Foothill Regional Medical Center is seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) to join a fast-paced, high-acuity team. You will perform assessments, administer treatments, and advocate for patients throughout the emergency care journey.

The role requires current California RN licensure, BLS/ACLS/PALS, and flexibility to cover day/evening/night shifts, weekends, and holidays. Expect collaborative care with physicians and multidisciplinary staff in a busy ED setting.

Qualifications

• Current, active California RN license.
• Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department, Critical Care, Telemetry, or Acute Care experience.
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Current ACLS certification or ability to obtain within established timeframe.
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced Emergency Department environment.
• Flexibility to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.
• BSN required
• Bilingual language skills
• Emergency nursing certification (CEN) preferred
• Experience with electronic medical record systems

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and ongoing patient monitoring.
• Administer medications, treatments, and emergency interventions in accordance with physician orders and nursing standards of practice.
• Recognize and respond rapidly to changes in patient conditions.
• Utilize clinical judgment to prioritize care and elevate concerns appropriately.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
• Develop and implement individualized plans of care.
• Coordinate care with emergency physicians, specialists, and ancillary departments.
• Monitor patient progress and revise care plans based on clinical findings and patient needs.
• Ensure compliance with evidence-based practice standards, infection prevention protocols, and regulatory requirements.
• Assist with discharge planning and patient education to support successful transitions of care.

What You'll Do

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care to patients presenting with acute illnesses, injuries, and medical emergencies. The RN performs assessments, develops and implements care plans, administers medications and treatments, coordinates care with physicians and interdisciplinary teams, and serves as a patient advocate throughout the continuum of care.

• At least one year of knowledge and experience in Emergency Department, Critical Care, Telemetry, or Acute Care
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or ability to obtain within established timeframe
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced Emergency Department environment
• Flexibility to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts as needed
• Ability to maintain composure and professionalism during high-stress situations

Environmental Job Requirements and Working Conditions

• Our organization follows an in person work structure where the expectation is to work onsite on a weekly basis. The hospital is located at 14662 Newport Ave, Tustin, CA 92780.
• The total compensation target pay range for this role is $43.00- $54.00 base hourly. The salary range represents our national target range for this role. 12-Hour Shifts = 8 Hours regular base rate Hours over 8 in 12-Hour shift are 1.5x OT.
