Job summary

PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center in Longview, WA is seeking a Full-time Day shift Emergency RN to join our collaborative ED team. You will provide safe, compassionate care in a 37-bed ED, a level III trauma center within an acute-care hospital.

The position offers a 0.9 FTE schedule of three 12-hour shifts (0700-1930), with wage range of $53.98-$80.10 per hour plus bonuses for BSN/MSN/certifications, CE/Tuition reimbursement, relocation, signing bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school/college of nursing.
• Minimum two years required: recent Emergency experience required or completion of emergency training program.
• Current WA State RN licensure or current multistate RN license.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required at date of hire.
• ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS all required within 6 months of hire.
• TNCC required within 1 year of hire.
• Must demonstrate independent management of cardiac, complex med/surg, pediatric, and trauma patients.

Responsibilities

• Provides professional nursing direct patient care in compliance with professional practice and unit standards.
• Promotes a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach towards patients, families and all members of the care delivery team.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs.
• Documents patient care in the healthcare record according to established standards.
• Directs and delegates care to other team members in accordance with their education, credentials, and demonstrated competence.
• Ensures own professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
• Participates in the development of and maintains established hospital policies, procedures and objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection prevention program.
• May assist with Trauma case review in conjunction with the Trauma registrar and/or Trauma Coordinator
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

Lifting

• Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
• Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
• Push/Pull: Frequently up to 45 lbs. force (i.e., WOW, medical carts).
• Perform hands on CPR at least 20 mins using 100-125 lbs. of force (National Assoc. of EMS Physicians and AHA) Frequency should be seldom or occasionally.
• Ability to move around area with frequent sitting.
• Bending/ stooping/ squatting/ reaching/ kneeling frequently.
• Lifting (non-patient) up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently.

Environmental Conditions

• Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
• Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment.

Mental/Visual

• Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
• Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
