Job summary

MercyOne Waterloo Endocrinology Care is seeking an RN Educator to provide diabetes education and counseling to patients at Waterloo Medical Center. You will help develop services and align with MercyOne's mission to deliver personalized, expert care.

As part of MercyOne Health System, you’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, support patient education across maternal-child nursing, and help maintain high-quality educational materials while ensuring compassionate, patient-centered care

Qualifications

• Nursing degree with eligible RN licensure in Iowa.
• Experience in maternal-child nursing and patient education.
• Diabetes education or endocrinology experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provides assessment, teaching and follow-up instruction to program participants in individual and group settings.
• Receives referrals from patient, physician or patient care staff.
• Develops plan of care based on identified concerns or problems.
• Coordinates/provides follow-up services in person or via phone.
• Documents education provided for inpatients on patient medical record.
• Reviews and updates educational materials/curriculum.
