Job summary

Serenity Estates in Oak Brook, IL is seeking a Director of Nursing to lead our nursing team and ensure the highest standard of resident care within state and federal guidelines.

You will oversee nursing operations, mentor staff, participate in admissions, and support continuous quality improvement in a busy long-term care setting.

Qualifications

• Nursing degree from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum of three years of supervisor experience in a nursing home or related facility.
• Current unrestricted RN license in Illinois.
• Knowledge of nursing and medical practices and long-term care regulations.
• Current CPR certification.
• Strong leadership and take-charge attitude.

Responsibilities

• Plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates and directs the Nursing Services operations and programs in line with state and federal laws.
• Interprets and communicates policies to nursing staff and monitors practices.
• Participates in all admission decisions.
• Attends daily/weekly management meetings to discuss census, resident status changes, complaints or concerns.
• Evaluates work performance and enforces disciplinary policies as needed.

Responsibilities

• Plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates and directs the overall operations of the Nursing Services department, as well as its programs and activities, in accordance with current state and federal laws and regulations.
• Interprets and communicates policies and procedures to nursing staff, and monitors staff practices and implementation.
• Participates in all admission decisions.
• Participates in daily or weekly management team meetings to discuss census changes, resident changes in status, complaints or concerns.
• Evaluates work performance of all nursing personnel and implements discipline according to operational policies

Requirements

• A Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university.
• Must have, as a minimum, three (3) years of experience as a supervisor in a nursing home or other related health care facility.
• Current unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Illinois
• Knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations and guidelines pertaining to long-term care.
• Current CPR certification.
