Job summary

Medical City Heart and Spine Hospitals in Dallas is seeking an experienced RN for Open Heart Surgery. This full-time role runs Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM with on-call responsibilities.

You will assess patients before surgery, educate families, manage IV therapy and preoperative medications, and participate in surgical safety protocols with the surgical team. You will deliver high-quality, patient-centered care, collaborate with surgeons, nurses and technologists, and ensure

Qualifications

• ACLS must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
• BLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• 2+ years of cardiovascular experience in the role is required.
• RN license (Registered Nurse) is required.
• Associate Degree; BSN required within 24 months for hires after 6/1/12.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Educate patients and families about procedures and peri-operative process.
• Prepare patients including IV therapy and preoperative medications.
• Participate in surgical site verification and universal protocols.
• Respond to patient emergencies and provide high-quality nursing care.
• Work with a dynamic interdisciplinary team.
• Apply nursing process with critical thinking, leadership, and clinical skills.
• Monitor patient condition and document changes.
• Educate patients and families about medical condition, treatment, and follow-up.
