Job Summary
RN CVICU – Contract position in In-Office, San Luis Obispo, CA, United States.
Auto Offer: Night Shift 3 x 12s or 4 x 12s; rotating shifts (no blocked schedules), 1900-0730. Requires TNCC, ACLS, BLS, NIHSS; Medical ICU/Trauma ICU, Neuro ICU. Call is rare.

Responsibilities
- Provide nursing interventions in stable and emergent patient situations.
- Perform medication administration, intravenous therapy including blood products, and care & maintenance of indwelling catheters & drains.
- Safely use and maintain medical equipment used in the critical care setting.
- Interpret ECG rhythm and manage life‑threatening emergencies.
- Verify and adjust monitor alarms according to policy.
- Apply knowledge of lead functions, ICP, ventriculostomy, pulmonary artery monitoring, arterial pressure monitoring, mechanical ventilation, and other ventilatory support devices.
- Assess changes in neurological symptoms and apply appropriate interventions.
- Initiate multidisciplinary, goal‑oriented care plans and collaborate with the health care team.
- Educate patients and families with appropriate teaching methods.
- Document care legibly, accurately, and timely.
- Perform unit‑specific safety and quality control checks (shift and 24‑hr MD order checks, VO/TO readback, crash cart checks, urine QC, refrigeration logs & outdate checks).
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Education/GED or equivalent (required). Associate Degree (A.A. or A.S.) required. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
- Passing completion of a Critical Care Nursing course (required).
- Six months previous critical care experience (preferred).
- Current RN license in the state of practice (required).
- Basic Life Support (BLS or HS-BLS) certification (required).
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS or HS-ACLS) certification (required).
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification within 1 year of hire (required). Current employees have 2 years to complete.
Licenses / Certifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice (required).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Healthstream Basic Life Support (HS-BLS) certification (required).
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or Healthstream Advanced Cardiac Life Support (HS-ACLS) certification (required).
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification within 1 year of hire (required).
