Job summary

CHKD Health System is seeking a Critical Care Resource Pool Registered Nurse (RN) to support multiple pediatric critical care units. You will care for critically ill children, align assignments with your strengths, and enjoy flexibility and opportunities for professional growth.

You will work under the Resource Pool Manager with leadership support, gaining exposure to diverse high-acuity environments and development pathways within CHKD.

Qualifications

  • RN license or compact state license is required.
  • CPR certification required.
  • PALS and/or NRP certification required or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.
  • At least 1 year of RN experience in pediatric or critical care settings preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide psychosocial and clinical care to pediatric patients.
  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate patient care per policies and standards.
  • Monitor patient conditions and respond to clinical changes.
  • Communicate and collaborate with physicians, nurses, and health team.
  • Support unit operations and staffing flexibility.
  • Perform other duties to support patient care and hospital operations.

BECOME A CRITICAL CARE – RESOURCE POOL REGISTERED NURSE (RN) AT CHKD

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • Providing developmentally appropriate psychosocial and clinical care to pediatric patients.
  • Planning, delivering, and evaluating patient care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Monitoring patient conditions and responding appropriately to changes in clinical status.
  • Communicating and collaborating effectively with physicians, nurses, and all members of the healthcare team.
  • Supporting unit operations and maintaining flexibility to meet staffing needs.
  • Performing other duties as assigned to support patient care and hospital operations.
QUALIFICATIONS - Looking for at least 1 year of RN experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-based environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and work efficiently across multiple clinical settings.
  • Commitment to patient safety, quality care, and family-centered practice.
License and Certification Requirements:
  • Current Virginia Registered Nurse (RN) license or valid Compact State RN license.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and/or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.
  • RN specialty certification preferred.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Associate Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Pediatric nursing experience preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Patient care environment with minimal exposure to excessive noise, dust, or temperature extremes.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and moderately adverse working conditions related to patient care activities may be expected.
